ARTH - 3363 Contemporary Art and Culture Since 1945 Description This course examines the artistic practices and critical accounts which constitute contemporary art, from the 1940s to the 1990s. Relationships between avant-garde artistic activities and social, cultural, and political critique are a central focus. Since this is not a survey class in the traditional sense, extensive reading in both historical and critical materials will be required. Prerequisite: Completion of one course in Art History, or sophomore standing, or consent of instructor.
