THTR - 3401 American Musical Theatre
Description
This course explores the development of musical theatre as an American art form by examining selected productions, their source material, creators, and performers within the context of American social and political history. Students will develop a more thorough knowledge and understanding of American history and the American experience through the lens of the American musical. Studying videos of musical theatre works along with required readings and in-class discussion will provide a platform for studying the history, development, and contemporary manifestations of this particular art form.
